[Tim hadn't realise this was a gift over dinner kind of deal but he supposes this is Rude extending more and more opportunities for Tim to make up for his behaviour]
Thai sounds good. I have no preferences or allergies to worry about so get what you like.
[ Around dinner time Rude calls one of the places that deliver. He goes for a selection of Thai food as well as places a couple of beers on the counter. Next to them is a small wrapped box. Rude has an open beer and is looking over the network on his device as he waits ]
[Tim isn't trying to be late but it'll be long enough that Rude might be wondering if he's been stood up. Then there's a knock at the door, which in itself is a surprise since Tim has never knocked on Dorian's door.
For this dinner, it's Rude's home and Tim is attempting respect.]
I didn't mean to be late. I mean, I'm sorry I'm late.
[Is the first words that fall from Tim's when Rude gets the door]
[Had Rude not expected Tim to arrive on time, or perhaps Dorian had warned him. Possibly Rude was a lot more observant than Tim had given the man credit for.]
Oh. Sorry, I don't really drink.
[Not that observant then, although he suppose has done so for Dorian.]
[ Tim flicks his wrist and his bostaff is in his hand and extends out. Not aimed at being used but just as a demonstration.
Rude has seen it before when Tim had tested Rude and Dorian's teamwork at Patch's but Tim had always had it extended then. It had proven to have a taser on the end. ]
Like that? Just shorter?
[ Tim looks down with slight confusion at the key.] I already have a key to Dorian's houses.
[ He'd made copies when he'd been caring for the house well over a year ago.]
I understand that this is more of a symbol anyway, so thank you.
Yeah, but like this long. [ He indicates with his hands something that is about the size of a police baton. ]
Yes, I know you can get your way in here with or without a key, but it is more that you are welcome. And the long in information is to the security system. I am going to trust you with it.
[ Rude nods and at that moment the doorbell rings with the food being delivered. Rude exuses himself for a few minutes to go pick it up and the brings it back into the kitchen. ]
I got a selection of stuff. I am not sure what you're used to, but this is the sort of food we'd eat a lot of in the office when we were working late.
This is the kind of food we'd only have if Alfred wasn't around to make passive-aggressive comments about the health food rating on anything we were eating.
[A slight exaggeration, Alfred didn't disagree with the type of cuisine, just that it was a takeaway version of it. Tim grabs a random container and opens it up to see what it is. He's going to eat it regardless of what he picks because he doesn't have huge preferences.]
I'm going to take a wild guess and say you lived on take away because your team was always working late.
You're not wrong. We were working late a lot. I didn't mind though. Office buildings get nice and quiet after everyone goes home and it is easy to slip into a state of focus. Also less people to get injured if you fuck up when putting together explosives or stuff like that.
But also, I didn't know how to cook until I got here.
I always find office buildings to be more oppressive than nice, although I used to play tag in the stairways of Wayne Enterprises with Dick.
[Otherwise office buildings are just where he has to work, bringing with it a huge weight of responsibility that nothing within the confines of the building can alleviate]
I didn't- I still don't know how to cook
[And the fact that Rude has learnt and likely can happily feed Dorian fills Tim with the sudden urge to learn. Although Rude might recall the boy has made them eggs for breakfast before so he's not wholly incapable.]
You made us breakfast that time? That is more than I knew when I came here.
And it has been slow going. But I am getting decent at fried rice at least. Thats why there is a couple of extra boxes of rice.
Stairways are good for a lot of different things, also a bit of privacy if you know where the cameras are. Though me and Reno would always sneak up to the roof when we needed some time away from the work.
If I couldn't fry some bacon and eggs that would be very pretty sad. I can also heat up cans of beans and boil eggs and noodles but I would not consider any of that actual cooking.
[Tim looks at the extra boxes of rice] It had crossed my mind about how much you thought I could eat.
Well, it was Bruce's building so we didn't have to worry about privacy. He would just scrub any cameras but we were only just mucking around anyway. Pretty sure plenty of people saw him chasing me down and putting me in a headlock.
Oh no, I think I eat enough leftovers as it is. I should probably finish what's currently in the fridge before I add to it unnecessarily.
[Tim's fridge would be soda and take out containers if it weren't for Kyle and Rhys occasionally cooking insisting on a home cooked meal.]
Oh yeah, it was just a game while we waited for Bruce to be done with board meetings [It doubled as training though but Tim would say he could justify most things as training at this point]

Also, you do know how that sounds like a trap right?

Unless it's non-alcoholic
no subject
Sadly no. But there is lemonade and ice tea, either of those to your taste? I could make you a non-alcoholic drink too.
no subject
[Dorian hadn't offered it when he was getting Tim to sample drinks to find something that he liked.]
I hope the gloves were an alright idea. You seemed to prefer hand to hand so a weapon didn't fit.
no subject
They were a great idea. I do prefer hand to hand and the electricity reminds me of my partner. He likes to use a magrod.
The gift for you is not as cool, I'll admit that.
no subject
[The same could be used to describe Tim's bo-staff, or his brother's escrima sticks so that still leaves a large range of possibility.]
If they ever need to repair or modification you can bring them back to me and I'll see what I can do.
I wasn't expecting a gift. I'm not really sure why you would...
no subject
And you should open it before you decide if it is a good gift or not
[ The gift isn't much, a key to the house and what looks like login information. ]
I figure it is time to trust you, so there you go.

I will admit I'm not sure what to say really.
